When countries go into recession, this usually sparks a marked change in consumer behaviour, mostly in their buying habits. One of the changes that have occurred in this country since the collapse of the banking sector is a huge rise in sales of lunch boxes and thermos flasks, suggesting that people are preferring to make their own meals in these times. Another notable change has been the fact that more and more of the UK are staying home, and taking domestic holidays.
These holidays at home are known colloquially as ?staycations?, and last year the amount of people embarking on them shot up. There are many reasons why this is the case. Clearly people are looking to save their hard earned cash in these desperate times, so just travelling a few cities away helps with this. Also, however, since the boom in international tourism, people have noticed how many great and beautiful places there are nearby which they can visit.
One of the places to go in the UK for 2012 is clearly the capital, London, and during the Olympics. Even if you didn?t manage to get hold of any tickets to any of the actual sporting events, there are going to be so many celebrations, and nights, as well as lots of bars and public squares showing live footage for you to watch. The excitement, pride and buzzing atmosphere in London during this time will be immense.
Another 2012 event that will bring with it much celebration is the Royal Diamond Jubilee. This bank holiday, just like the Royal Wedding, will see countless street parties and other such festivities held all over the country. This would be a perfect time to set aside for your holiday.
A phenomenon called ?glamping? has been taking over recently, and combines glamour with camping. Big tents and huts are set up for tourists in beautiful locations in the English countryside, meaning you can enjoy the stunning scenery without all the mess and cramped conditions of camping.
Don?t miss these great deals on cheap Turkey holidays.
